The Extravaganza that Celebrated Travel —India International Travel & Tourism (IITT) 2014

On the watchword, “Launch with a Bang”, the first edition of Indian International Travel & Tourism (IITT) 2014 kicked-off from 16th – 18th January 2014 at MMRDA, Mumbai. As one of the world’s most vibrant exhibitions dedicated to Travel & Tourism Industry, IITT 2014 concluded with an overwhelming success.

Conceptualized and executed by Asian Business Exhibitions & Conferences Ltd. – India’s trade fair leader launched their travel expo, India International Travel & Tourism Exhibition (IITT) 2014. This “Global” Exhibition was a much-awaited event in the Domestic and International Travel & Tourism industry and related businesses.

Serving the inbound, domestic and outbound markets, the show was spread over 10,000 Sq Mt and was inaugurated by Chhagan Bhujbal - Hon'ble Minister of Tourism - Government of Maharashtra State. Other prominent people from the Industry who inaugurated IITT were Neha Dhupia - Bollywood Actor, G. A. Mir - Hon'ble Minister for Tourism J & K, Vipul Mitra - Principal Secretary - Gujarat Tourism, Sujit Banerjee - Secretary General - World Travel & Tourism Council - India Initiative (WTTCII), Chandana Khan - I.A.S - Special Chief Secretary (Tourism) - Government of Andhra Pradesh - AP Secretariat – Hyderabad, Guldeep Singh Sahni – President – OTOAI, Kishore Mandhyan - Former Director - Political, Peacekeeping and Humanitarian Affairs - United Nations, and many more.

IIITT witnessed participation from a large number of destinations such as: Turkey as Partner Country, other International Participating Countries were Thailand, South Africa, Germany, Reunion Islands and many more. Domestic participants included Maharashtra as Host State, other Participating states were Jammu & Kashmir, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Bengal, Sikkim, Pondicherry, Assam, Goa, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh & Punjab. NDTV Good Times was a strong support in publicizing this mega event.

IITT opened doors to thousands of visitors at its inception. The star-attraction of IITT was its state-of-the-art façade—that took 15days for completion, hand-painted, 350 feet in length & 40 feet in height included 9 prominent Tourist attractions from across the globe viz. Eiffel tower- Paris, Taj Mahal - India, Great Wall of China - China, Leaning Tower of Pisa - Italy, Merlion - Singapore, Colosseum - Rome, St. Basil Cathedral - Russia, Egyptian Pyramids – Egypt and Sydney Opera House - Australia.

Attention to detail was one of the integral factors that made this expo a global torchbearer for the Travel industry. With attendance by International Buyers from Over 15 countries, 80+ Hosted Domestic and Outbound Operators from Pan India, 90+ Delegates and more than 1,000 Scheduled Appointments. IITT was an example of their pledge to offering participants from across the globe. Apart from the exhibition, IITT concurrently conducted panel discussions i.e. the 2-day conference on 16th & 17th January which was an interactive platform that addressed key industry issues, expert perspectives and highlight on the challenges of the tourism industry. The technical sessions were extensive and focused, and the topics well thought-out.

Against the backdrop of a booming Travel industry, IITT provided the ideal venue for a large number Cultural Stages, Workshop areas and VIP Lounge. There was a Gala Networking Night followed by a cultural program organized at a five-star hotel in the evening, which was much appreciated by the delegates and exhibitors after a packed working day. With a media budget running into crores, IITT marked a milestone in its inception. IITT was an initiative taken to propel the Travel and Tourism industry that bridged the gap between the geographies and its components.

Manish Gandhi, MD & CEO - ABEC, who was the driving force behind the overwhelming success of IITT 2014, proudly invited the people to come witness this travel extravaganza excitedly exclaimed, “IITT is a brand new platform that will bring with it a beneficial initiative and unexpected opportunities to maximize business and travel experiences.”

The reach and reputation of the event made IITT a stage to launch, exhibit, exchange, invest and progress at a pace newly accomplished. IITT brought with it the entire spectrum of Travel & Tourism industry, thus making room for everything from the most renowned to the most promising. Indian International Travel & Tourism (IITT) 2014 was well-thought and crafted from concept to completion as it intended to bring the world together under one roof showcasing the Wonders of the World, it was indeed a two- way pass for those who wanted to explore the world.
